Material Handler/Forklift Operator

Typical duties and responsibilities * Supply material to production locations/departments per daily requirements by operation of powered industrial truck * Monitor operation of powered industrial trucks and perform maintenance as needed * Stack, package, label, and prepare material for shipment or movement to next operation * Load and unload pallets and other materials from shelves and/or trailers * Locate product in production facility * Pull orders from racks using a log * Perform an initial walk-around of your forklift to ensure that it is in good working order before operating it, and reporting any problems or irregularities to maintenance * Stage and palletize product * Lift product; either on pallets or unpalletized * Perform light Quality Control to ensure that products are going to the correct areas * Conduct cycle count to insure inventory integrity * Perform general cleanup and maintenance of your work area * Keep work areas clean and orderly * Commit to and participate in activities for continuous improvement * Comply with all Company guidelines for maintaining a safe environment * Comply with all Company policies and procedures * Other duties as assigned Education/Certification High school diploma or GED required.
Knowledge / Experience * Powered Industrial Truck operator certification or the ability to be certified within one week * Experience operating a forklift for a minimum of 6 consecutive months * Experience with multiple forklift types (sit-down, stand-up, cherry-picker, clamp and reach) preferred * Experience in both loading/unloading as well as in placing product in warehouse racks preferred * Good command of basic math, reading and writing is a must * Previous production-related work experience preferred * Good manual dexterity * Good communications skills, both written and verbal * Ability to work well in team oriented environment * Ability to work overtime or non-regular hours as needed * Excellent sense of safety awareness and good housekeeping * Good problem-solving ability * Participation in cross-training plans may be required * Expected to guard confidentiality of Company information * Computer skills Miscellaneous Details Job requires regular (67% or greater of time) walking, standing, sitting and constant visual attention.
Occasional (25% - 33% of the time) lifting up to 50 lbs.
, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, and handling may be needed Work environment will often include exposure to heat, cold, noise, chemicals and dust Exposure to moving machinery requires strong awareness to safety Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment.
