Job Title: Director Petroleum

Position summary: The Director of Petroleum is a leadership level position who leads the Petroleum team and has overall accountability for fuel supply, environmental monitoring and compliance, retail pricing, carrier management and all associated contacts with all petroleum suppliers, carriers, and terminal owners.
The Director of Petroleum will assist with the risk management of procurement and delivery of petroleum fuels to all company operated stores and wholesale customers.
The Director of Petroleum will monitor market dynamics, retail pricing, and inventory levels across eighty one company operated convenience stores.
The Director Petroleum will lead contract compliance as well as spot purchases for the company, and work directly with the various common carriers.
The Director of Petroleum will additionally lead environmental compliance, the commercial fleet program, and wholesale sales.
General Purpose: Manage retail pricing competitively and site level margins, daily petroleum purchasing, inventory and delivery of fuel at the lowest cost possible within the approved written guideline of Family Express’ Risk Management policy.
Maintains knowledge of Underground Storage Tanks (UST’s), environmental regulations and requirements, UST monitoring, IDEM, and assist in UST repair supervision as needed.
Responsible for sourcing and relationship management of all third party petroleum service and product suppliers.
Role Qualifications: Bachelor Degree or the equivalent combination of experience and education in managing petroleum procurement and distribution.
Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to travel among all Family Express locations or other non-Family Express locations when necessary.
Up to 25% travel required.

Execute comprehensive fuel purchasing programs and manage inventory exposure, both short and long term within written risk guidelines to support sales and revenue objectives of the organization
Lead, maintain, and develop/execute strategy for daily retail pricing
Monitoring fuel inventory data using electronic exception reporting software, and internal reconciliation processes that meet or exceed regulatory requirements and company standards
Adheres to the written hedging and risk management strategy of the company
Lead and develop commercial fleet and wholesale sales
Lead, maintain, and develop/execute strategy for daily petroleum retail pricing
Maintains knowledge of Underground Storage Tanks (UST’s), environmental regulations and requirements, and assist in UST repair organizations
Lead continuous improvement and technology initiatives within the petroleum department
Other duties as assigned

Physical demands and work environment:
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Work Environment: Must have flexibility to work all shifts, all days of the week, when necessary.
Ability to tolerate extreme temperatures for minimum of 30-minute intervals.
Exposure to cleaning solvents.
