The Shift Leader (SL) is responsible for creating a positive member experience by providing a superior level of customer service to Planet Fitness members, prospective members, and guests.
The SL is also responsible for the oversight of gym operations in absence of the Club Manager (CM) and Assistant Manager (AM) to ensure an exceptional “Judgment Free” member experience as well as a financially successful club.
The Shift Leader (SL) will be accountable for supporting the CM and AM leading a team of employees in a positive, motivating manner with continuous influence and assistance in employee training and development.
Responsibilities include but not limited to: Driving a positive culture through the commitment, communication of, and adherence to our Core Values, and ensure an ongoing commitment to the Judgement Free Zone (JFZ).
Ensuring a consistent focus on quality communication and interactions, clean and organized clubs, and superb customer service throughout the club.
Ensuring safety of employees, members, and club property.
Consistently and constantly demonstrate a desire to be a team player.
Promoting/maintaining consistent accountability and adherence to policies and procedures.
Handling all front desk relates activities, including: o Answering phones in a friendly manner; assisting callers with a variety of questions.
o Checking members into the system.
o Signing up new members.
o Taking prospective members on club tours.
Cleaning tasks; bathrooms, locker rooms, Black Card area, workout area, etc.
Responding to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Assist CM/AM with recruiting, hiring, training, and developing a high performing staff.
Ensuring repair and maintenance of both the facility and equipment to brand standards.
Assist CM/AM in tracking, achieving, and maintaining all key performance indicators (KPIs).
Elevating concerns to the AM or CM as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Service-oriented and able to resolve member concerns.
Basic computer proficiency.
Upbeat and positive attitude.
Punctuality and reliability are a must.
Minimum High School Diploma or GED Equivalent and must be 18 years of age or older.
1-2 years of experience in customer service.
Initiative, leadership skills, and strong communication skills.
Great organizational, relationship building and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Willingness and aptitude to move into an AM role within one year.

Working Environment This position operates in a customer facing environment in retail locations.
This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Requirements While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The employee is often required to sit, stand, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 75 pounds.
