Description: This position is responsible for assisting with the education of all residents at Wheatfield Academy.
This role does not require lecture-style teaching within a traditional classroom but rather provides support to residents as they complete core academics via an online learning portal.
This may require following individualized learning plans and/or tutoring for a wide range of middle and high-school-level courses.

Lead by example Requirements: Provide direct teaching and supervision for the education at Wheatfield Academy.
Provide direct supervision of all residents and ensure all academic needs are met, and are developmentally and age-appropriate.
Provide solutions and creative motivational strategies to ensure residents are making measurable academic progress.
Provide direct supervision of residents to ensure appropriate treatment progress is being made in accordance to the treatment plan.

Physically capable of being TCI-certified and capable of performing physical interventions safely, if needed.
Very sharp thinking and problem-solving skills will be determined by the ability to quickly re-direct from roadblocks or hurdles that may prevent residents from making academic progress.
Travel Travel includes driving locally as determined by the needs of the residents.
This could involve travel for field trips for academic purposes.
There may be training opportunities that could involve local or overnight travel.
Physical and Visual Acuity Requirements The physical requirement of this position is defined as Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
The visual acuity requirements needed to perform this position include having close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and reading.
Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
The employee will be exposed to inside environmental conditions, as well as: Infectious diseases Presence of clients with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health needs and/or challenges Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Education or a similar field Hold a valid teaching license within Indiana for secondary education Preferred Education and Experience Additional education and experience in fields such as: Youth Ministry Social Work Counseling Psychology Criminal Justice Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must have the ability to coach, teach, and mentor youth individually or in groups Must have experience leading and providing accountability to others, leading team meetings, and providing training Must demonstrate a proactive work ethic to see needs and meet them Other Duties This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required by the employee.
