Job Title: Renew Assets Performance Engineer III Job Code: 107799 Job Summary This role will monitor, track, identify, recommend, and oversee the performance of all current and future Generation renewable energy assets as well as recommend and oversee performance enhancement solutions.
This role is responsible for manipulation of data coming from the asset and turning it into readable reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities Performance Engineer I – Renewable Assets Interpret and analyze data from new and existing generation renewable assets.
Manipulate this data into readable formats utilizing data historian and business intelligence software.
Perform detailed reviews of all newly developed renewable processes and procedures Build reports to accurately communicate asset health and operation against established baselines Investigate and resolve issues resulting in lost production or high O&M expense Evaluate, implement, and validate upgrades to increase the design capacity of assets which are currently in operation.
View and analyze historical trends to predict future failures and help coordinate with operations on maintenance planning.
Conduct thorough reviews of all drawings and ensure proper storage within the data repository Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies Transfer and organize all as-built documentation to the operations team Navigate and analyze data in the various Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems Verify manufacturer’s instructions and procedures are being followed Maintain an accurate product data repository by validating field data Travel required approximately 5% Performance Engineer II – Renewable Assets All duties and responsibilities performed as an Engineer I plus: Build and present reports to both internal and external stakeholders to accurately communicate asset health and operation against established baselines Interface and collaborate with the turbine OEM’s and wind farm staff.
Report issues found in a timely manner Detect early-stage failures, issue recommendations for inspections and communicate remedial actions to site to rectify the condition.
Document lessons learned for future warranty assessments and provide feedback to the contract manager and other applicable stakeholders.
Performance Engineer III – Renewable Assets All duties and responsibilities performed as an Engineer II plus: Evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by conducting research and drawing reviews to ensure consistency between stakeholders Interface and collaborate with the OEM’s, vendors, developers, and specific site staff to determine & decide business needs Detect underperformance and other issues not easily detected on-site Evaluate, oversee implementation, and validate upgrades to apply to future renewable acquisitions when comparing assets currently in operation Own, operate, and aid in the creation of our data historian and business intelligence platform reporting mechanism.
Lead End of Warranty (EOW) process with the developer to ensure equipment is in the best possible condition compared to the original warranty.
Participate and collaborate with other departments in any EOW inspection warranty claims.
Continuous update software in order to build a machine learning platform for future use.
Perform ad hoc requests from the renewable asset management team Be a lead and Advisor in conjunction with EPRI (Electric Power Research Institute) and other industry experts to ensure NIPSCO business needs are in line with current and future industry standards Required Qualifications for Position Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (BSE) from an ABET accredited engineering program or similar engineering degree + 5 years of experience in electric generation Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills Exceptional attention to detail and talent for accuracy and precision Ability to coordinate and manage projects with multiple levels of interface between outside consultants and other stakeholders Ability to use personal computers and use associated engineering software Good planning, organizational, verbal and written communications skills Working knowledge of Microsoft office Ability to work independently Strong, effective communication, negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills Versatility and flexibility due to a newly create role Valid Motor Vehicle License Preferred Qualifications for Position Knowledge with renewable assets (solar and wind) Previous experience with project management and process improvement Previous experience working with IT/OT/SCADA Disclaimer The preceding description is not designed to be a complete list of all duties and responsibilities required of the position.
